Solar
Partial Solar Eclipse 4th December 2002.
On the 8th of June 2004, the planet Venus passed between Earth and the Sun. It is an event called a transit and occurs again in 2012. Below is an image of the 2004 transit. Venus is the dark silhouette in from of the sun.
The sun can also have magnetic storms called sunspots. Below is a group of them (sunspot group number 720)
Comets
Comet Macholz near the Pleiades on the 5th Jan 2005
Comet T7 Linear, 21st May 2004. It was visible at the same time as comet Q4 Neat Comet Q4 Neat on the 25th April 2004 below.
Comet McNaught of January 2007. The best comet seen in many years!
The left image was taken just after sunset on the 20th of January 2007, while the image on the right was taken from Hargraves Lookout at Blackheath on the 25th of January 2007.

Other Items
Aurora on the 29th October 2003. One of the largest Auroras seen from the observatory. It was active most of the night!
The weather was clear for the total Lunar Eclipse on the 28th of August 2007 and at the observatory we obtained about 152 images of the eclipse from the time the moon started to enter Earth's shadow at 18:52 local time, until the moon left Earth shadow at 21:23.
Thunder Storm and Lightning, 19th Nov 2007
Tornado, Friday 18th December 2009 at 5:30 pm. Passed about 1 km north of us.
