Bathurst Observatory Research Facility is not a meteorite dealership, however, we do occasionally have pieces for sale (sometimes fossils for sale as well!) when we update our collection, or have pieces that we have cut off larger masses for study. When we do have meteorites for sale, they are listed below. Prices on some pieces are negotiable, and are in U.S Dollars!  We accept pay pal payments for purchases, cheques (once cleared) and money orders. (A flat rate of $10 U.S for postage and packaging per purchase for items over 100g or $5.00 U.S postage for items less than 100grams.) I really don't want to become a meteorite dealer, so if there are any dealers out there that want to trade, let me know. (Bulk prices can be negotiated)

We also occasionally get asked to sell items for people or if you would like something in particular, we can generally source it for you.

All meteorites will come verified and labelled with a certificate of authenticity. Most are large sized display pieces, and the only ones offered off the main mass they came from. If you only want a small bit, let me know, and I can generally trim a bit off one of the unsold pieces for you.

Funds from the sale of these pieces funds our research and our public meteorite display. We do accept pay pal.

Please note to use the info@Xbathurstobservatory.com.au email address for meteorite enquiries. Be sure to remove the red X in the address for it to work. Or phone 02 6337 3988. (Overseas, replace the 02 with 61, but just note our time zone is about 17 hours ahead of U.S time.)

A new batch of meteorites has arrived. Most of these new pieces will be officially classified. I have also reduced the prices on these and other meteorites as the U.S dollar has dropped! If you are a collector, I can also trade for pieces if you want to!

(Australian residents can currently consider the U.S dollar and Aussie dollar to be the same)

NEW Meteorites for Sale and Some Fossils Too!

Below are some of the new meteorites that I have for sale. Most are being classified and will receive NWA numbers shortly. The classifications will be provisional and may change slightly once the analysis is completed. They are all from North West Africa.

I also a batch of small meteorites for only a few dollars each. These will be unclassified, but great for those just wanting an example of a meteorite and don't care about the type it is and not wanting to pay huge amounts.

Meteorite H5, (item number H136), NWA 5190 Provisional Number

Likely a H or possible L chondrite, type 5, Shock 2, Weathering grade 2. The image on the left is the cut face showing some of the metal, while the image on the right show the rear side. This has some crust and plenty of metal. Weighs 136 grams, $105 U.S

This will be the only piece of this meteorite to be sold. The observatory will hold the main mass, and this is the only other piece. It will be officially classified.

Meteorites Brecciated L5-6 (item number BL 116), NWA 5188 Provisional Number.

This is the last of this meteorite to be offered and was cut from the main mass.  The meteorite is provisionally described as Brecciated Chondrite, L5-6, Shock 1, Weathering grade 2. It looks similar though not identical to NWA 869.

The above images show the cut face and reverse side of BL116 sample weighing 116 grams, $95 U.S. There is some weathered crust present.

Meteorites L4-5 (item numbers ULN45, ULN62, ULP57 and ULP91). NWA 5189, Provisional Number.

A most unusual meteorite. It is either a H or likely a strange L 4-5, Shock 3, W4. It is presented either as a polished slice (or end) or rough sawn. The rough sawn faces shows the chondrules to their best, while the polished ones show the large amount of very fine metal present. Provisionally lodged as an L4-5.

The above image is a rough sawn slice id ULN45, weighing 45 grams. It shows the chondrules at their best. $40 U.S

The above is another rough sawn slice ULN62, weighing 62 grams. $55 U.S

The above image is a polished slice ULP57. It is 57grams and not only shows shock darkened chondrules, but also the fine metal. $57 U.S

The above image is ULP91. It is a polished end weighing 91 grams. again nice very fine metal and some shocked chondrules. $91 U.S

There are about 4 other smaller slices, both polished and un polished of this meteorite available, so if you done like any of the above UL's et me know.

TRILOBITES From Morocco.
